Words of Love - Extracts from the Bible

Daily Word

  "GOD IS LOVE":  Teach us Lord to exercise Love toward all people

"The mountains and hills may crumble

                                      But my love for you will never end;

                                                  I will keep forever my promise of peace"

                                                   So says the Lord who loves you. Isaiah 54:10

  • Jesus teaches us:  "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." This is the greatest and the most important commandment. The second most important commandment is like it:"Love your neighbor as you love yourself."  (Matthew 22:37-40)

  • Jesus said: "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your friends, and hate your enemies'. But now I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may become the sons of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun to shine on bad and good people alike and gives rain to those who do good and to those who do evil. Why should God reward you if you love only the people who love you?" (Matthew 5:43-46)

  • Jesus said:  "My commandment is this: love one another, just as I love you. The greatest love a person can have for his friends is to give his life for them. And you are my friends if you do what I command you." (John 15"12-14)  (Thank you lord because this is what you did for me!)

  • Jesus said:  "Whoever accepts my commandments and obeys them is the one who loves me. My Father will love whoever loves me; I too will love him and reveal myself to him."

  • John writes: "Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son into the world, so that we might have life through him.  (thank you Lord) That is what love is: it is not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven. Dear Friends, if this is how God loved us, then we should love one another. No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in union with us, and his love is made perfect in us."    (1 John 4:7-12)
  • God is love and whoever lives in love lives in union with God and God lives in union with him…. There is no fear in love; perfect love drives out all fear. So then, love has not been made perfect in anyone who is afraid because fear has to do with punishment. We love because God first loved us.  (1 John 4:16-19)

  • Paul explains love and writes, "If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing;

                                    Love is patient and kind,

Love is not jealous or conceited or proud;

                        Love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable;

Love is not rude; it is not easily angered,

                        Love does not keep a record of wrongs,

                        Love is not happy with evil,

but is happy with the truth.

                        Love never gives up

And its faith, hope, and patience never fail.

Prayers:

                        Dear Heavenly Father, it is written in John 3:16 "For God so loved the Word that gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life". Thank you lord because "you did not send your son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him".  Indeed, Lord, you were The Best and Only Example of the godly love. Teach us to be like you and to love all people, even our enemies. Teach us to realize that all people are precious to you because you created them and died for them. Teach us to love the world as you loved us. Thank you Lord. Amen.

What is really astounding is the fact that God loves us all, without exceptions, unconditionally. He will not love you more if you are a born again and He surely will not love you less if you are a sinner. He loves each and every one of us regardless of the level of our faith! Our Lord is so loving that He keeps forgiving our sins, if we repent. He does not rummage through our past. He does not keep a record of our wrongs. If anything, He wants us to forget our mistakes and release ourselves from all the pain, hatred, shame and bitterness…etc that our old life may have caused. He wants us to move forward In HIM and not move / look backwards. This fact alone puts a huge smile on my face and makes me look at life in a very positive perspective.

Thank you Auntie for this wonderful topic.
I love you, too.

Hi Auntie!
I loved what you said Sireen!

God defines love in one way in the act of giving. However, what God gave was not a gift-wrapped present; God sacrificed His only Son so that we, who put our faith in His Son, will not spend eternity separated from Him. This is an amazing love, because we are the ones who choose to be separated from God through our own sin, yet it's God who mends the separation through His big sacrifice, and all we have to do is accept His gift.
His love is very different from human love. God's love is unconditional, and it's not based on feelings or emotions. He doesn't love us because we're lovable or because we make Him feel good; He loves us because He is love. He created us to have a loving relationship with Him.
