Before coming to the second spiritual weapon, I would like to remind you that God created each one of us with a free will and therefore, we could exercise our authority over the devil only in our own lives. We do not have authority over our fellowmen or their wills unless they want us to set them free.
Demons quiver in fear as we exercise our God-given authority over them.
The second spiritual weapon is,
2. The Blood of Jesus:
Revelation 12:11 "They overcame him by the BLOOD of the Lamb…."
In order to understand the power of the blood, I have to go back to Exodus, chapter 12. God ordered his people to slain a lamb without spot or blemish. The blood of the slain lambs was placed on the door posts and the lintels of the houses as protection. The blood was coverage of protection. Moses wrote in Exodus 12:23 “When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down”. The destroyer could not enter any house covered with the blood. The same applies to us today; if we cover ourselves with the blood of Jesus nothing by any mean could harm us. The blood of the lamb in the Old Testament was a shadow of the cross of our Savior Jesus Christ. We don't need to slain lambs any more because the blood of Jesus on the cross was shed as the one-time sacrifice for all. He is the Passover lamb; he is “the lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world”. The blood of Jesus is our protection because it is "shed for many for the remission of sins.” (Math 26:28) and it conquered sin, death and disease. All we have to do is to cover our houses with the precious blood of Christ daily.
In the beginning of the book of Job we read that Satan could not harm Job because he offered daily burnt offerings (Job 1:5) as "a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side?" (Job 1:10). Satan could not interfere in Job's life because of this hedge. He had to take permission from God to attack Job. This should teach us a lesson. When we cover ourselves with the blood of Jesus we are spiritually building a hedge of protection guarding us against the attacks of our adversary. The devil cannot cross the BLOOD LINE! Satan is aware of this powerful weapon and wants to keep us ignorant of the power of the blood of Jesus over him.
Claim the blood of Christ and bind Satan in the name of Jesus.
3. The Word of God
Revelation 12:11 "They overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb and by the WORD of their testimony".
The Word of God is powerful and never fails. In Matthew 5:18"I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished"
When Satan tempted Jesus, Jesus overcame him with the Word of God; "It is written" and the devil left him. The devil cannot overcome us if we are rooted in the Word of God and use it as our spiritual weapon.
Paul describes the Word of God in Ephesians 6:17 as the sword of the Spirit and writes in Hebrews 4:12; "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart".When we use the Word of God, this powerful weapon, the sword of the Spirit, against Satan, we will get immediate results.
We have to have faith in God's Word! Faith in the Word of God will move any mountain, will slay any giant, and will defeat every enemy. "No weapon formed against you will prosper". So claim the promises of the Word of God in your life, they are yes and amen.
Scriptures to read: Exodus 12
Prayers: Lord, forgive me for looking for some other means of protection besides You. I thank you Lord for giving me the authority to use your powerful Name and precious Blood against the attacks of the enemy. Help me to remain strong in your Word. Amen.
Psalm 9:9-10 "The Lord also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, A stronghold in times of trouble, And those who know Thy name will put their trust in Thee; For Thou, O Lord, hast not forsaken those who seek Thee. Amen.
