Christ came to proclaim and bring to completion the kingdom of God; a kingdom of power, glory and rights against Satan's dominion in this world. Jesus won the battle already and has triumphed over sin, hell and death. So today, if we want to walk in spiritual victory, we will have to know how to use the spiritual weapons God has given us.  We have talked about 3 spiritual weapons, now comes the fourth;

            4. Prayer and Fasting:

I would like to refer to the story in Matthew 17:21 where the disciples couldn't cast out the devil. They asked Jesus why they had failed and Jesus answered that in some cases, prayer and fasting are needed to win the victory. I have written about Prayer and Fasting in my previous "Daily Word" and would like to remind you of the importance to die to the flesh to strengthen the spirit. The weaker you are in the flesh, the stronger you will be in the Spirit and the stronger you can win the spiritual battle.

The fifth spiritual weapon is,

          5. Holy Spirit:

John 14:16-18, Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."

Jesus also said in Luke 24:49 "I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high". Jesus told his disciples to tarry and wait for the promise of the Father, which is the outpouring of the Holy Spirit which is the power from on high. The Holy Spirit is the active power from on high and force of God in our lives to help us to overcome the devil, the flesh and the world. The Holy Spiritwill bring the personal boldness into our lives in order to accomplish mighty works in Christ's name.

Eph 6:10-20 and 1 Peter 5:8 show that all Christians are involved in a struggle with the forces of darkness and 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 promise that the Spirit gives us all the power we need for this sort of spiritual warfare. Jesus knew that his disciples and the early church needed the power of the Holy Spirit in order to walk in victory. God never placed us here on earth to walk in limited power, but in unlimited power, the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said in Matthew 12:28; "If I cast out devils by the Spirit of God then the Kingdom of God is come unto you". Jesus explains in Mark 3:27 that "no one can enter a strong man's house (Satan) and carry of his possessions (setting free those who are enslaved to Satan) unless he first ties up the strong man (Satan). Then he can rob his house".  So with the power of the Holy Spirit we can take authority over the devil and bind him and his cohorts in Jesus' name and then set people free.

Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Amen

Scriptures to Read:
James 4:7:  Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I ask you to help us to walk in victory every day and to defeat the devil in every place, just like you, dear Lord Jesus.  Amen

Hello habibti,
When you speak about the power of the Holy Spirit, does this mean speaking in tongues / being baptized by the Holy Spirit? Or do mean that each one of us has the power inside as long as we are born again even if we are not baptized by Holy Spirit?
Is there anything wrong that I have not been baptized by the Holy Spirit (yet)?

Hi Sireen,
No I am not talking about the baptism of the Holy Spirit although there is so much power in that but it is too soon to explain. I will gradually talk about the "speaking in tongues" and the benefits of the tongues at a later stage. Of course, there is nothing wrong with you because you have not been baptized with the Holy Spirit yet; you will. All you need is to be around the right people, the right environment and your simple faith and believe me you will get it. If you want come on a Monday morning at our ladies meetings and I guarantee you will get it. Almost all of the ladies attending have the baptism of the Holy Spirit and they got it so quick. It is simple and God has promised this baptism to all people. It is great and so powerful and it is something that you have to desire. It is not something that we have earned or deserve, but it is God's mere loving grace and mercy. Hallelujah.
