Unfortunately, Satan the tempter used Eve to plant doubt and unbelief in her heart towards God's word. Eve was deceived by the serpent; she fell and disobeyed God. Adam was deceived by Eve and disobeyed God. Adam's sin was greater. He had to make a decision between fellowship with God and fellowship with Eve. He deliberately chose Eve in preference to God and disobeyed. As a result of their sin, immediate spiritual death and gradual physical death took place. The glory of God left them and they realized their nakedness and tried to cover their shame by making aprons of fig leaves. They stepped out of the dependence on God into independence, out of life into death and out of light into darkness. They could no longer maintain their relationship to God and lost their spiritual life. Now, every child born into this world has been born in the pattern of fallen sinful man. This fall included the animal kingdom, the vegetable kingdom and the human kingdom. Physical death immediately began to work in man's body, "for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."
Their conscience drove them away from God and they hid from God and it was God who sought man; "Where art thou?" This is the continuous cry of our loving and merciful God seeking fallen man; "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which is lost" (Luke 19:10). Their coverage (fig leaves) was not good enough for God; He covered their guilt by coat of skin, shedding blood of innocent animal, which symbolizes the atonement and God's plan of salvation. Here we have substitution, the innocent dying for the guilty. Here we have the shedding of blood without which there is no remission of sin (Hebrew 9:22). This is why we always kill animals and shed their blood as coverage for our sins (Fida). By this, God declared His Redemption Plan to save mankind through the Savior, Jesus Christ, who will crush the head of Satan and restore the lost relationship.
(Will be continued tomorrow)
Note: The root of sin is "rejecting God and turning your own way", i.e. walking independently of God – think? What would the fruit of such a lifestyle be?? I guess we can see it all over!
