God Does Exist:
If you want to know that God exists, just look around; God's fingerprints are all over the universe! From the Christian prospective the physical universe is a revelation of its Creator; the whole universe, its complexity and everything in it points to a creator!
Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."
Isaiah 42:5 "The Lord, created the heavens and stretched them out".
Even the scientists agree that the earth is perfectly balanced. It does not shake or quiver, because wherever there are mountains on one side of the earth, there is another mountain or something of equal weight on the opposite side of the earth! There is an amazing global balance and weight distribution on this earth, of mountains, valleys, seas and hills. Another amazing fact is that the oceans put forth the exact pressure against the shores that keep the mountains standing.
Isaiah 40:12, "Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and hills in a balance? "
Psalms 104:5 "He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved. You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains…. they flowed over the mountains, they went down in to the valleys, to the place you assigned for them. You set a boundary they cannot cross…."
Think about the following:
If the sun were any closer to the earth, we would burn up or any further, we would all be frozen.
If the moon were any closer or bigger, the tides would destroy the coastlines;
If any weaker, ozone shield could not protect us from stellar and solar radiation.
If the earth’s crust were any thicker, it would absorb too much of our oxygen.
If it were any thinner, the volcanic and tectonic activity would make life impossible.
If the decay rate of a proton were any faster, we would die from radiation.
If the carbon dioxide level were any greater, runaway greenhouse effect would kill us.
If it were any less, plants would be unable to maintain photosynthesis.
If the polarity of the water molecule were, any greater vaporization would be too great for life.
If it were any small, ice would not float – build up ice – freeze the planet!
If our distance from Jupiter were, any greater, asteroids and comets would pepper the earth. If we were any closer, our orbit would become unstable.
If the surface gravity were any stronger, earth would retain too much ammonia and methane.
If it were any weaker, earth’s atmosphere would lose too much water. . .
Even the tilt of the earth’s axis is crucial to maintaining the earth’s temperature.
How can we explain the Big Bang Theory? Many scientists have in fact opposed this theory. However, to sound more logical than scientific, I want to ask a question. How can a big explosion or bang cause things to get so organized and balanced? Actually, when a huge bang happens, it is more logical to create a mess rather than to get things balanced. Did you ever leave your house or any place in a mess and returned to find it in perfect order and balance?
I have picked up some statements from brilliant thinkers who admitted the necessity of a God:
Albert Einstein claimed that cosmos is so complex that reveals a being of super intelligence, a being who is smarter than the combined intelligence of every human who have ever lived!
Astrophysicist Sir Fred Hoyle, credited with the discovery of the resonances of carbon and oxygen atoms explained this process, he quoted the verse "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God", Psalm 14:1
Astronomer, Robert Jastrow wrote this in his book "God and the Astronomers", “Consider the enormity of the problem. Science has proven that the universe exploded into being at a certain moment. It asks what cause produced this effect? Who or what put the matter and energy into the Universe. Science cannot answer these questions. . For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; his is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.”
Heinemann prizewinner in mathematical physics, Robert Griffiths, said, “If we need an atheist for a debate, we go to the philosophy department; the physics department isn’t much use.”
Scriptures to Read: Psalm 104, the whole chapter.
Prayer: Glory is your Holy Name, oh God. Let our hearts rejoice, let us seek your face forever and ever. O Lord, my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty. Praise you Lord, make your light shine upon us and help us remain faithful to you until the Day of your Coming. Amen
